For centuries, we've dreamed of traveling to distant worlds. Together we've set out to discover and experience new adventures. At KLM, we're committed to making our processes and products more sustainable and reducing our environmental footprint. We hope our latest video will inspire others to do the same. Because pursuing sustainable travel on earth, is our greatest adventure yet.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel
This year we became the world's first airline to operate a passenger flight partly fuelled with sustainable synthetic kerosene. By replacing fossil fuel with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) , we can reduce CO2 emissions by 85%. To achieve our climate ambitions, we intend to use 10% SAF by 2030.

Innovative aircraft
We can also substantially reduce our CO2 emissions with a more efficient fleet. We will therefore be welcoming 25 new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, which burn 9% less fuel and reduce CO2 emissions by 31% per passenger, compared to the Embraer 190.
A more sustainable fleet
Optimum maintenance
Sustainability is not just a question of improving our fleet, but also our processes. We can reduce CO2 emissions by critically assessing operations and making minor adjustments, ranging from more efficient routes to more timely maintenance and the recycling of washing water.
