Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
In January 2021, KLM became the first airline in the world to carry out a commercial passenger flight on an admixture of 500 litres of sustainable synthetic kerosene. This first flight is an important milestone in developing sustainable synthetic kerosene as a viable alternative to fossil-based fuels.

Taxibot at Schiphol Airport
Only if we all join forces we can make a real difference. Together with partners, KLM took part in a trial at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to test sustainable ways to taxi aircraft, utilizing Taxibot: a unique vehicle that tows the aircraft close to the start of the runway, without the aircraft having to start its engines.
